3 MLB Player Prop Bets to Target on Monday 8/14/23

Player props can be useful in a variety of ways -- from taking advantage of them straight up (to the tune of cold hard cash) to measuring a player's potential to produce in daily fantasy baseball on FanDuel. Here, we're going to focus on the former.

Utilizing our projections as a guide and looking at the MLB odds at FanDuel Sportsbook, here are some spots where you can find value today in the prop-betting market.

Here are some MLB player prop bets to make tonight.

Please note that betting lines and our game projections may change throughout the day after this article is published. Also, the weather may be an issue in some locations.

Michael Harris II To Hit a Home Run (+750)

There's no shortage of power hitters in the Atlanta Braves' lineup and plenty of options to consider tonight.

A 5.17 implied run total is nothing new for the Braves, and with a matchup against Clarke Schmidt, they could score early and often. On the season, Schmidt is allowing a .373 wOBA, .500 SLG, 5.25 xFIP, 1.33 HR/9, and 38.3% fly-ball rate versus left-handed hitters. That is a tough set of stats to look at with warm hitting weather in Atlanta tonight, presenting upside for some home runs.

We'll take a shot with Michael Harris II, who has a 111 wRC+, .339 wOBA, .168 ISO, and 36.3% hard-contact rate versus right-handed pitchers. Recently, Harris has been crushing the ball off the bat but not seeing the results. In his most recent four-game series against the New York Mets, Harris had 15 at-bats and 6 of them ended with balls hit over 100 mph exit velocity.

He is blasting the ball right now but hasn't found his way over the fence. It's a great matchup for him to finally grab a homer after making some loud contact over the weekend. Of course, I'll look to add Harris To Record an RBI (+170), too.

Corey Seager To Record an RBI (+120)

With a 5.04 implied run total, the Texas Rangers are a clear team to target for player props tonight.

The Rangers have one of the highest-scoring offenses in the league, and it's always great to get exposure to them at plus money. They will be up against Patrick Sandoval, who is a rather unthreatening pitcher on the mound with a 14.8% strikeout rate versus left-handed hitters. On top of that, Sandoval allows a 9.1% walk rate, 4.73 xFIP, and .218 BABIP in this split. It's an uninspiring set of stats for Sandoval in this matchup.

Corey Seager is an elite hitter with a 167 wRC+, .411 wOBA, .257 ISO, .375 BABIP, 41.9% fly-ball rate, and 45.3% hard-contact rate versus left-handed pitchers.

There's nothing not to love about this matchup for Seager and the Rangers, which should lead to plenty of runs on the board tonight.

Paul Goldschmidt To Record an RBI (+120)

The St. Louis Cardinals have a slate-high 5.20 implied run total against the lowly Oakland Athletics.

This is a rather straightforward spot for the Cardinals' offense and there's no reason they shouldn't reach or exceed that total. Oakland will have JP Sears on the hill tonight, and he's simply not a pitcher you need to worry about.

On the year, Sears allows a .430 SLG, 4.80 xFIP, 1.72 HR/9, 56.8% fly-ball rate, and 31.7% hard-contact rate versus right-handed hitters. With several righty hitters in the Cardinals' lineup, there's no shortage of options to consider for props tonight.

We'll stick with Paul Goldschmidt, who is rocking a 103 wRC+, .320 wOBA, .361 BABIP, 36.5% fly-ball rate, and 44.7% hard-contact rate versus southpaws this season. Goldy is an elite hitter and will have plenty of chances to knock in a run tonight.
