Francisco Alvarez absent Tuesday for Mets
New York Mets catcher Francisco Alvarez is not in the lineup for Tuesday's series opener against right-hander Bryce Elder and the Atlanta Braves.
Omar Narvaez will start in his first game back from the 60-day injured list, but Alvarez is expected to remain the preferred starter moving forward. However, it's worth noting the rookie backstop is 0-for-14 with 4 strikeouts and zero walks over his last five games. The Mets designated Tomas Nido for assignment to make room for Narvaez.
numberFire’s models project Narvaez ($2,600) for 7.0 FanDuel points on Tuesday. Per our MLB Heat Map, the Mets' implied total is 4.68 and the game total is a batter-friendly 10.5. Elder has a 4.16 xERA with a 47.3% hard-hit rate this season, so his 1.92 ERA is a bit misleading.
