Sean Doolittle earns his first save of the season for Athletics
Oakland Athletics relief pitcher Sean Doolittle earned his first save of the season with three strikeouts Monday in the A's 2-0 win over the Kansas City Royals.
Doolittle didn't make it easy on himself, as he gave up one hit and walked one before finishing off the Royals in his first save opportunity of the season. He likely got the call due to multiple lefties coming up in the ninth for Kansas City and Santiago Casilla having pitched the eighth. Doolittle, Casilla, and Ryan Madson are expecting to share save opportunities in Oakland for the time being.
Doolittle appeared in 44 games for the A's last season, posting a 3.23 ERA and 1.05 WHIP with four saves and 45 strikeouts in 39 innings pitched.
