Votto continues insane second half, blasts three-run jack in Reds' win
Cincinnati Reds first baseman Joey Votto went 2-for-5 with a homer and three RBI in the Reds' win over the Chicago Cubs on Wednesday.
Today's 2-for-5 effort actually lowers his on-base percentage (OBP) to .457 this year.
After a "down" 2014, at least by his elite standards, Votto is back at it again this season, reassuming his perch among the game's best hitters. He owns a .436 wOBA, which ranks third among all hitters (behind Bryce Harper and Miguel Cabrera), to go with 27 homers, 70 RBI and eight steals. Ready for some craziness -- Votto has reached base in 36 of his last 51 plate appearances and has an absurd .576 OBP since the All-Star Break. Starting on August 11, he's gotten on base at least once in every game, a stretch covering 22 contests.
