Buccaneers expect big bounce back from Doug Martin
Tampa Bay Buccaneers suspended running back Doug Martin is in line for a bounce back year, quarterback Jameis Winston expects.
"One name that’s going to shock… Doug Martin," Winston said. "He looks incredible. The way he’s bursting and just being so explosive. It really shows his resilience and how well he's prepared this offseason." This falls in line with comments from general manager Jason Licht. Martin was one of the biggest post-draft winners with the Bucs only adding Jeremy McNichols in the fifth round.
Among the 42 running backs with at least 100 rushing attempts this year, Martin's -0.20 Rushing Net Expected Points (NEP) per attempt ranked second-worst. His career-worst Rushing NEP per attempt prior to 2016 was -0.10 during the 2013 season.
