Packers' Ty Montgomery diagnosed with broken ribs

Green Bay Packers running back Ty Montgomery suffered broken ribs early on in Thursday's game, per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

What It Means:

Though Montgomery didn't leave until earlier in the first quarter, Rapoport reports that he suffered the injury on the team's opening drive. It's surprising that the back played through the painful injury, but that might speak to his availability going forward. If he can play with the aid of a flak jacket, there's an opportunity for Montgomery to suit up next week. But it's more likely that he's forced out for a week or two. Jamaal Williams (knee) took over before leaving the game with an injury himself. So, with both backs' statuses up in the air, Aaron Jones could be heavily involved next week.

Montgomery managed 5 rushes for 28 yards and 2.8 FanDuel Points in Week 4. If he were to gut it out, he'll face the Dallas Cowboys on the road in 9 days.
