Chiefs to rest Alex Smith, start Patrick Mahomes in Week 17
Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid has named rookie Patrick Mahomes the team's Week 17 starter, reports Chiefs.com's BJ Kissel.
With the Chiefs a lock for the playoffs, Reid has decided to sit Alex Smith and give the number 10 overall pick a chance to show what he's got. This could serve as an audition of sorts for next year, with many clamoring for Mahomes to start over Smith as early as this season. We could see similar production from Mahomes, who served as a dual-threat signal caller in his time at Texas Tech.
At $6,000, Mahomes is projected for 14.7 FanDuel points via 236.6 passing yards, 1.26 touchdowns and 13.9 rushing yards against the Denver Broncos.
