There are plenty of quality pitchers on today's main slate, but our projections have Arrieta head and shoulders above the rest of the field for his road matchup with the San Diego Padres.

Even though Arrieta's 3.89 SIERA is more than a full run higher than his clips from the past two seasons, that just speaks to how unbelievable he was in 2014 and 2015. The Chicago Cubs' ace is still having a quality year, posting a 24.5% strikeout rate with a 9.5% walk rate. He owns a solid 54.2% ground-ball rate in his road outings, and Petco Park ranks 29th in park factor.

San Diego ranks 28th in wOBA (.301) and boasts the second-highest strikeout rate (24.7%), so the ceiling is pretty high for Arrieta. The Padres' implied total of 3.18 runs is the day's lowest mark.
