Why He Will Go Overlooked:
Though Pomeranz may not be incredibly under the radar today, there's a pile of studs on the main slate on Monday, including Max Scherzer against the woeful Braves, Chris Sale, Justin Verlander, and Cole Hamels. In addition, Pomeranz will face the Padres, who aren't horribly bad against left-handed pitching (10th in the league in wOBA at .321).
Why You Should Use Him:
Vegas has installed the Red Sox as the second largest favorite on the day (-237). While the Padres are decent against lefties, they also strike out a bunch against them at a rate of 25.1%.
Pomeranz has continued to be impressive, both before and after his trade to the Red Sox. He's elevated his strikeout rate 4 percentage points this year to 27.1% in 2016, which ranks him 8th amongst qualified starting pitchers in all of baseball.
While Pomeranz does give up a bunch of fly balls (38.2%), he will be pitching at Petco Park which is 18th-friendliest for home runs. Being such a heavy favorite with a great matchup, Pomeranz has both cash and tournament viability.
