Seth Smith's production has been solid but unexciting this year. He has slashed .261/.349/.437 with a .340 wOBA and .176 ISO. There are a few things working for him today that do help him make that jump into "exciting" territory though. He is up against a right-handed pitcher in Kyle Gibson, and his wOBA jumps to .352 and his ISO to .185 if we look at his splits against righties this year. Plus, he has been crushing in September so far, with a .434 wOBA through 15 games.

Gibson has a very rough 5.10 ERA and 4.75 SIERA on the year (as well as a 4.59 ERA and 4.35 SIERA over his career). Left-handed hitters especially are beating up on Gibson this year to the tune of a .386 wOBA with a 4.68 xFIP.

The Seattle Mariners have a strong 4.83 implied total tonight, and this is a perfect storm for Smith's fantasy value.
