While rookie Jharel Cotton has a stellar 1.52 ERA in four starts for the Oakland Athletics, it has come with a far less impressive 4.52 SIERA. He also managed a 2.82 ERA in six games with the A's Triple-A affiliate, but that came after a 22-game stretch with the Dodgers' Triple-A side in which he posted a 4.90 ERA.

That kind of shaky resume makes this an interesting spot for a guy in Seth Smith, who tends to find success against right-handed pitchers.

Smith is slashing .259/.353/.437 against righties this year with a .343 wOBA, .178 ISO and 34.3% hard-hit rate. For his career, he owns a .357 wOBA and .201 ISO vesus right-handers.
