Rickie Weeks may go overlooked a bit tonight, with Francisco Liriano likely to be one of the more popular pitching options on the slate, but Liriano's popularity doesn't take away from Weeks' value here.
Liriano is an inconsistent pitcher with some control issues, having finished the 2016 season with a 4.38 SIERA (the second-worst of his career) and an 11.6% walk rate -- worse than his 10.2% career average. He had an especially hard time with right-handed hitters, allowing a 34.9% hard-hit rate, 12.3% walk rate and .339 wOBA.
Weeks has some pretty extreme platoon splits, generally keeping his overall production and DFS salary pretty low, but he has shown an ability to crush left-handed pitching. In an admittedly small sample size of 76 plate appearances against southpaws last year, Weeks produced a 51.9% hard-hit rate and .419 wOBA. While that came with a 21.2% strikeout rate, it's easy to look past his low floor and play him for his serious upside while he's priced at the minimum salary.
