FanDuel Price: $2,100
Why He Will Go Overlooked:
Will we ever fully appreciate the greatness of Mike Trout? It's becoming ho-hum at this point, but the consistency is incredible. While he will cost your lineup a cool $5,000, Trout has started the year by going for 9 or more fantasy points in seven of his first eight contests, and he racked up 20 or more fantasy points in three of those contests. He gets a date with A.J. Griffin of the Texas Rangers and should be highly owned.
Elite defender Kevin Pillar -- who posted a pretty mediocre .295 wOBA in 2016 and is off to a slow start to 2017 (.261 wOBA) -- should see low ownership.
Why You Should Use Him:
There's a few reasons to like Pillar, even with his offensive shortcomings.
It's hard to ignore hitters at the Rogers Centre, which is in the top 10 in both park factor and home run factor over the past three years. Hitting at home last season against right-handed pitchers, Pillar posted a decent .778 OPS over 215 plate appearances.
Milwaukee Brewers starter Chase Anderson struggles with same-sided bats, giving Pillar a little more juice. For his career, Anderson has allowed a .361 wOBA and a 34.8% hard-hit rate to righties.
All this adds up to a salary-relief option who can allow you to squeeze in another big bat.
