FanDuel Price: $7,700
Why He Will Go Overlooked:
As impressive as the pitching slate was yesterday, today's slate isn't much different -- there are a ton of studs taking the pill. Jon Lester, Jacob deGrom, Corey Kluber, and Justin Verlander are all priced above $9,000 and should grab a large majority of ownership.
Drew Pomeranz makes his third start of the season after getting dinged up a bit by the Tampa Bay Rays to the tune of 5 earned runs over 4.1 innings pitched, and he will be in a touch matchup tonight. Even currently slated as slight underdogs, the Baltimore Orioles sport a healthy implied team total of 4.21 runs, and will get to hit in Camden Yards, which has been one of the top 10 most hitter-friendly parks in the big leagues.
Why You Should Use Him:
Despite the challenges Pomeranz will see in this tough Baltimore lineup, there's a lot of juicy potential.
Against left-handed pitching so far in 2017, the Orioles .282 wOBA ranks 21st, while their 27.7% strikeout rate is the third-highest mark in the league.
And while Pomeranz did get knocked around a bit in that last start, his strikeout rate has been excellent -- the sample size is small (10.1 innings), but he's whiffed 37.2% of batters faced while allowing just a 29.2% hard-hit rate.
With that kind of upside in the strikeout department -- and a team that seems likely to help him out there -- he could make for a great play at relatively low ownership.
