As with Chen, Brett Anderson's left-handed, breaking-pitch-heavy arsenal makes him a strong play as the Chicago Cubs visit the offensively-challenged Pirates on Monday.
A weekend date against a formidable Boston Red Sox lineup seems, on the surface, a bit less appealing. But the Sox's murderous reputation disguises a notable offensive mediocrity across the past week of action, with the team sitting around league average in terms of OPS and hard contact over that span.
The season as a whole has seen Boston really struggle to muster extra-base power against southpaws as the team has managed a puny .060 ISO against lefties across 133 plate appearances, a league-worst mark. Anderson's limited strikeout upside doesn't exactly scream dominance, but even so, deep-league streamers shouldn't hesitate to take a shot on Anderson for what could prove to be a quietly productive two-start week.
