FanDuel Price: $3,000
Why He Will Go Overlooked:
Kris Bryant launched his fourth homer of the year on Sunday, extending his hitting streak to 11 games. The most expensive option at the position on Monday and owner of double-digit FanDuel points in six straight contests, Bryant is surely to be on a lot of players' radar as he returns home to Wrigley.
Meanwhile, Evan Longoria of the Tampa Bay Rays has been going in the opposite direction of Bryant. Only posting two hits over his last 22 at-bats, Longoria has posted a pretty mediocre .288 wOBA on the season.
Why You Should Use Him:
Perhaps an interleague contest against the Miami Marlins is just what the doctor ordered for Longoria, and it could come at the expense of starter Wei-Yin Chen.
Longoria has been pretty rude to left-handed pitching throughout his career to the tune of a .376 wOBA, which is 30 points higher than his career mark against right-handed pitching. He's also posted a .241 ISO against lefties (.210 versus righties).
Chen, like Longoria, has also struggled to start the year -- over 21 innings pitched, Chen owns a 4.78 SIERA, and it's been those pesky righties that have bothered him the most, just like his career numbers suggest. For 2017, he's done a nice job against lefties (.256 wOBA), but righties have posted a far healthier mark (.335 wOBA).
In Chen's only home start this season, he was blasted by right-handed bats in the lineup -- the 12 batters he faced posted a 1.083 slugging percentage and .618 wOBA. Grab some exposure at a cheap price point with Longoria.
