FanDuel Price: $7,900
Why He Will Go Overlooked:
There is a pile of aces taking the bump on a small slate, including Zack Greinke, Gerrit Cole, Michael Fulmer, and Dallas Keuchel. All priced above $9,000, they will surely see the majority of the heavy run on the slate.
With those studs on the hill, many of the mid-priced options could go overlooked, and one in a great spot is Derek Holland of the Chicago White Sox. Rained out yesterday, he will try and face a Minnesota Twins lineup that's been tough lately, so he shouldn't see a ton of ownership.
Why You Should Use Him:
Many folks would be surprised to know that the Sox rank third in team ERA (3.47), and that's in large part due to the strong start by Holland and company.
Holland has thrown 35 2/3 innings (six starts) and sports a healthy 2.02 ERA despite a 4.37 SIERA so far this season. Of those six starts, five of them have been of the quality variety, with only a single blowup in Yankee Stadium a few weeks ago.
Holland's success is being largely driven by an increase in strikeout rate. So far in 2017, he's posted a mark of 20.3%, which is up 5.8% from last year with the Texas Rangers (14.5%). With the southpaw being a slight home favorite (-125 money line) and the Twins boasting a 4.06 implied team total, this could be a sneaky play that will allow you to spend up at other positions.
