Coming off a career year in 2016, Kennys Vargas has posted even better numbers in 2017, with a .382 wOBA through a small 42-plate-appearance sample.
He posted a big 41.7% hard-hit rate last year, including a huge 54.6% against southpaws -- which he turned into a .514 wOBA. The sample size was still small (52 plate appearances), but those numbers should inspire a ton of confidence, especially when he brings them into a good matchup against Chicago White Sox lefty Derek Holland.
Holland's 4.38 SIERA is an improvement over the 5.10 mark he posted in 2016, but it's still not a strong mark. He's also allowing a career-high 38.2% hard-hit rate this season, and he's not much of a threat to slow Vargas down.
