Free agent acquisition Ian Desmond was supposed to make a big splash for the Colorado Rockies this season, but since his return from a month-long stint on the DL, there hasn't been much fanfare.
Despite benefiting from a .357 BABIP, his wOBA sits at just .296, and he's shown little power upside with a .113 isolated power (ISO). His strikeout and walk rates (27.1% and 2.4%, respectively) also leave much to be desired.
His recent play doesn't indicate a hot steak is coming, either. Across his last 14 games, he has a 20.5% hard-hit rate and a 84.7 mph average exit velocity. He's settled into hitting out of the sixth hole most nights, which further lowers his expected value.
Perhaps a game against Zach Eflin (4.88 SIERA) is what Desmond needs to get going, but unless you're making some contrarian Rockies stacks, he needs to show a little more before getting back in our good graces.
