FanDuel Price: $8,300
Why He Will Go Overlooked:
Thanks to some rain yesterday, there are a handful of top-notch hurlers available on today's slate, including Jacob deGrom, Stephen Strasburg, and Chris Archer, all of whom cross the $10,000 barrier and should see heavy ownership.
New York Yankees starter Masahiro Tanaka is one starter who's struggled lately, allowing 13 homers to go with a 6.56 ERA over 48 innings pitched.
Why You Should Use Him:
Tanaka has been off to a rough start, but there are some advanced metrics that tell us he's pitched better than traditional numbers might otherwise indicate.
While that ERA is high, his 4.32 SIERA shows he's been somewhat better than that number would lead you to believe. Tanaka's is also on pace to post his second-best swinging-strike rate of his career (12.6%).
His opponent on Friday evening will do him a little bit of a favor -- the Oakland Athletics strikeout at a healthy clip of 23.0% against right-handed pitching, which is the fifth-worst mark in baseball.
Tanaka makes for a strong mid-tier option with some upside.
