The New York Yankees will start southpaw CC Sabathia on Thursday, and the Toronto Blue Jays have the main slate's highest implied total (4.85) in this one.
Age certainly seems to be catching up with Sabathia, and he's on pace for a career-worst 4.58 skill-interactive ERA (SIERA) in 2017 after posting a 4.35 in 2016, his worst since 2004. He's been especially shaky against right-handed hitters this year, allowing a .323 wOBA, 4.43 xFIP and 38.8% hard-hit rate.
Russell Martin is off to a solid start to the season, with a .355 wOBA, and his soft-hit rate (10.8%) and hard-hit ate (35.1%) are both on pace to be the best marks of his career. He has been making especially strong contact over the past couple of weeks, ranking sixth in average exit velocity among hitters with at least 10 batted balls in the last 15 days, and this matchup puts him in a great spot to keep rolling.
