Yes, I mentioned Alex Meyer as a potential value, and as I often say on small slates, it's hard to truly exclude just about anyone from consideration. Still, with three far stronger pitchers to go with instead, it's difficult to recommend going here.
Meyer doesn't exactly have a stellar SIERA (4.89), due in part to his troubling double-digit walk rate, and his low swinging-strike rate makes his high punchout rate look awfully fragile. To make matters worse, he's facing the Minnesota Twins, who lead the league in walk rate (10.7%).
Meyer is also unlikely to go deep into the game. He's making his first start since going on the DL, and he's only hit six innings once in five starts.
He's cheap enough for a dart throw in tournaments, but there are too many red flags to give Meyer a ringing endorsement.
