Ian Kennedy is coming off a poor 2016 season for the Kansas City Royals, and 2017 has been even worse thus far, with a 4.89 SIERA through 9 starts, not to mention a career-high 39.4% hard-hit rate and 47.2% fly-ball rate.
He's been especially bad over his last four games, allowing the highest average exit velocity and fifth-highest average batted-ball distance among the 175 pitchers to throw at least 250 pitches in the month of May.
Carlos Correa offers a ton of upside in a matchup this good. He's always had a solid bat, but 2017 has been an especially strong year for him, with a .382 wOBA and .213 ISO through 223 plate appearances, while posting career-bests in all of hard-hit rate (40.3%), soft-hit rate (14.3%) and fly-ball rate (35.7%).
