The 37-year-old Albert Pujols may not be producing well this year, but he's not quite as washed up as his .283 wOBA may lead you to believe.
He's still been making solid contact against left-handed pitching -- 32.5% hard-hit rate and 12.5% soft-hit rate -- and with numbers like that, his BABIP shouldn't be as low as the .179 clip he has managed against lefties so far in 2017.
He also draws a plus matchup tonight against Kansas City Royals southpaw Matt Strahm, who will be making his first start of the season after working out of the bullpen. Strahm posted a pretty rough 4.90 SIERA through 20 games (22 innings) this year, with an especially poor 5.42 xFIP against right-handed bats.
