Matt Carpenter has been crushing baseballs lately, and his price-tag really doesn't capture that.

Among hitters with at least 10 batted balls in June, he ranks 30th in average exit velocity and 6th in average batted-ball distance, while posting a 47.7% hard-hit rate, 9.1% soft-hit rate and 52.2% fly-ball rate.

He's sporting a .385 and .254 ISO against righties this year despite a low .288 BABIP (compared to a .334 career-average and .303 in 2016), and he draws a great matchup tonight against Baltimore Orioles right-hander Kevin Gausman, who has opened the season with a poor 5.46 SIERA as well as a 6.30 xFIP against left-handed hitters through 14 games.
