The Minnesota Twins' offense is in a terrific spot today against Los Angeles Angels righty Parker Bridwell.
Among pitchers that have allowed at least 25 batted balls over the past 3 weeks, Bridwell has allowed a top-25 average batted-ball distance as well as the 4th-highest average exit velocity. He has a 5.20 skill-interactive ERA (SIERA) through 7 career major league games, and the 4.10 xFIP he posted through 6 Triple-A games this year doesn't inspire much confidence.
Eduardo Escobar hasn't been especially dangerous against right-handed pitching this season, but he has some decent batted-ball numbers, limiting his hard-hit rate to 12.3% while posting a 43.3% fly-ball rate, and he has been making some nice contact lately, ranking 54th in average batted-ball distance among hitters with at least 10 batted balls over the past 15 days.
The Twins' 5.61 implied total is the day's third-highest mark, and Escobar is a nice cost-effective way to get exposure to their offense.
