There are a ton of stud pitchers on this slate. While Jacob deGrom and the New York Mets being slight underdogs (+103 money line) looks like a red flag, the St. Louis Cardinals only have a 3.82 implied total. The close betting odds are largely because of a tough pitching matchup on the other side of this game.

DeGrom's 3.60 SIERA isn't anything special, but he's been dealing the best strikeout stuff of his career, evidenced by a 29.0% strikeout rate and 14.2% swinging-strike rate. He makes for a better play in tournaments than in cash (where you probably want to just jam in Scherzer and move on to other positions), he has some serious upside against a Cardinals team that has a middling 97 wRC+ against righties.
