It's been a little over a month since we last checked in around the league with our power rankings, but this seems like the perfect time, doesn't it?
With the non-waiver trade deadline coming and going on Monday at 4pm ET, the dust has settled to a degree, and we can get a glimpse of which teams are truly going for it, and which ones are officially looking toward trying to compete in 2018.
One thing that hasn't changed for a while is how good the Los Angeles Dodgers are. They have charged ahead to own baseball's best record (74-31), and it's the first time they've been at least 40 games over .500 at any point in a season since 1974. So, manager Dave Roberts' club is doing things in Hollywood that we haven't seen for a while.
After upgrading their bullpen with a few moves, they ended up dropping a bomb on us at the buzzer by completing a trade for Yu Darvish, and this just doesn't seem fair anymore. They currently have a 27.3% chance of winning the World Series, per our metrics, and while there are some questions within their rotation, nobody can question how ridiculously good it is.
Three of the top 23 starters in SIERA (min. 80 innings pitched) are now Dodgers. https://t.co/ypQdPgRbmV

And if that wasn't enough, there's also this.
Darvish's 11.9% swinging-strike rate is 25th among SPs with at least 50 IP this season, but it's the fifth-best mark among LAD starters.

So, yeah, the Dodgers are really good, and they made moves yesterday that they're hoping will set them up for a deep run into October.
Who else has seen their stock rise or fall since we last checked in around the league?
Unlike some other power rankings around the interwebs, ours here at numberFire aren't influenced by hype or the latest narratives. We put faith into our algorithms and use nERD to see which team is the best, which is a metric that represents runs scored above or below a league-average team per game.
Our rankings will include each team's nERD, their current record and playoff odds, along with how much their spot has changed over the past month.
