Streamers are accustomed to honing in on the San Francisco Giants offense for mining their plug-and-play gold, and perhaps its the cognitive dissonance of seeing a San Francisco name on the pitching side of the ledger that has kept Ty Blach relatively unowned despite his recent success.
The 26-year-old lefty has indeed been on a nice run since the All Star break, with a 3.21 ERA over 42 innings despite a puny 13.1% strikeout rate.
In truth, it's less the name on Blach's uniform than the suspicious 4.37 xFIP and 37.4% hard-hit rate that have resigned him to deep-league consideration, but his upcoming two-start week should see his ownership spike just a tad.
After all, the Marlins are a bottom-third power producer at home this season, and thus unlikely to put the regression squeeze on Blach's conspicuously low 4.8% homer-to-fly mark. Add to that a weekend capper against the Phillies, the worst road offense in baseball, and Blach seems like a sneaky interesting add for fantasy owners in a pinch.
