4 Under-the-Radar Daily Fantasy Baseball Plays for 8/15/17
Firmly entrenched in a starting role, Mikie Mahtook could be in for a big night. Who else stands out as a sleeper play?

Mikie Mahtook, OF, Detroit Tigers

FanDuel Price: $3,000

Why He Will Go Overlooked:

It's no coincidence that the St. Louis Cardinals surge in the standings coincides with Dexter Fowler's return from the disabled list. Over the last two weeks, Fowler has been crushing the ball to the tune of a 50.0% hard-hit rate, and for the season, he's been at his best from the left side. He sports a 124 wRC+ against righties, versus a mark of only 89 against lefties, and will take aim at Rick Porcello Tuesday evening.

Locked into a platoon role for his career, Mikie Mahtook of the Detroit Tigers is an under-owned outfielder that is sure to be ignored yet again.

Why You Should Use Him:

Mahtook may only have 574 major league plate appearances to his name, but he's been a productive member of the Tigers, and has been playing a lot more with the trade of J.D. Martinez to the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Mahtook and the Tigers face A.J. Griffin of the Texas Rangers, who's really struggled so far in 2017 to the tune of a 5.03 SIERA. That's fueled in large part by righties ripping the cover off the ball against him in 2017 -- they've knocked him for a 41.5% hard-hit rate and 61.0% fly-ball rate.

Enter Mahtook, who's been strong against same-sided righties, with a .362 wOBA. For some exposure to Griffin at an affordable price point, check out the lesser-known Tigers outfielder.
