Why He Will Go Overlooked:
Back to the friendly confines of Camden Yards, Tim Beckham of the Baltimore Orioles should see heavy ownership thanks to a date with Marco Gonzales of the Seattle Mariners. On the year, Gonzales has posted a 7.40 ERA and allowed 3.05 home runs per nine innings pitched.
With a .267 wOBA mark in 2017, and facing a fellow lefty in Drew Pomeranz, Ryan Goins of the Toronto Blue Jays should see low ownership.
Why You Should Use Him:
We often try to use the platoon split to our advantage, but tonight, we should actually be working with same-sided bats against the Red Sox starter.
In 2017, Pomeranz has allowed a 31.2% hard-hit rate and a 35.1% fly-ball rate against same-sided lefties. Away from Fenway, Pomeranz has posted his worst split in terms of slugging percentage against lefties -- they've cranked him for a mark of .520.
Assuming Goins makes his way into the lineup, his 6.8% walk rate gives us some additional lefty exposure at a reasonable price point.
