Price: $5,200
Because of the short-term variance inherent in baseball stats, I tend to avoid players whose prices are climbing as they ride hot streaks. Giancarlo Stanton is an exception to that, and he's really hard to ignore in fantasy right now.
His absurd .545 wOBA in August doesn't come with an especially inflated BABIP (.345), and has accompanied some ridiculous batted-ball numbers, with a 46.1% hard-hit rate. He ranks 1st in average exit velocity and 13th in average batted-ball distance among the 328 hitters with at least 25 batted balls on the month.
He draws a plus matchup tonight against Philadelphia Phillies righty Ben Lively, who has an ugly 5.49 SIERA through his first nine big league starts, while allowing a big 45.6% fly-ball rate to right-handed hitters.
