For pretty much the entire season, Chris Young has failed as a punt option against southpaws, despite a career's worth of lefty-mashing to support him. Now in the season's final week, it might simply be time to admit it's just not going to happen this year.

He could very well get the nod against J.A. Happ tonight, but Young has mustered just a .260 wOBA and .072 isolated power against lefties, and he'll likely bat in the bottom half of the order. Turning 34-years-old earlier this month, he could be in decline, or have a nagging ailment we're unaware of. There are stronger cheap values on the slate, so we don't need to put ourselves through another potential Young letdown.
