Those same cost limitations exist for Gregory Polanco. He's the 77th-ranked player on FantasyPros, so you're not getting him to free. But after a wretched 2017, now's the time to buy.
Polanco was limited to just 411 plate appearances last year, limping along to a .251/.305/.391 slash with 11 home runs and 8 steals. His batted-ball stats weren't much better, but it makes sense with the laundry list of injuries he endured.
Polanco sustained injuries to his shoulder, groin, ankle, and hamstring and had multiple stints on the disabled list. The shoulder injury -- which occurred before opening day -- is especially troubling because it has the potential to sap power even once the player's on the field. Polanco has lost 12 pounds to add flexibility, so his start to 2018 should be much friendlier than last year's.
We've seen the upsides in Polanco before. He stole 27 bases in 2015 and bopped 22 dingers the next season. With bounceback potential aplenty and solid performances this spring, we should buy Polanco before people are reminded of what he can do when healthy.
