Let's go back to the A's and that great matchup against Colon.
Colon's poor 2017 included some especially pronounced difficulties against left-handed hitters. He allowed them to make some really strong contact as lefties had a 15.1% soft-hit rate, 41.3% hard-hit rate and 45.1% fly-ball rate, and that translated to a .381 wOBA.
After a few quiet seasons, Jed Lowrie put things together in 2017, and his .347 wOBA was his best mark since 2010. A switch-hitter, Lowrie's best work came against righties. In that split, he posted an 11.0% walk rate, 35.6% hard-hit rate, 45.9% fly-ball rate, .353 wOBA and .179 ISO.
