5 MLB FanDuel Value Plays for 4/3/18
Eric Thames is cheap despite a great matchup with Jack Flaherty and the Cardinals. What other budget-friendly hitters should you target on Tuesday?

Jake Smolinski, OF, Oakland Athletics

Price: $2,000

Another minimum-salary outfielder, Smolinski has the same great matchup that Piscotty does as a right-handed hitter against Cole Hamels.

Smolinski hit out of the two-hole the first time Oakland faced a southpaw this season, and with the A's sporting a solid 4.51 implied total, hitting high in the order like that should give him plenty of plate appearances to work with.

The last time Smolinski saw at least 50 plate appearances against left-handed pitching was in 2016, and he hit the ball well that season, with a 30.5% hard-hit and 12.6% soft-hit rate, which led to a .344 wOBA. Numbers like that are more than enough to put him in play at the minimum in a matchup like this.
