FanDuel Price: $5,400
Bryce Harper was the highest-owned outfielder against Julio Teheran on Monday, and while 12.2 FanDuel points isn't anything to sneeze at, it's not the fireworks the people were hoping for against a pitcher Harper has owned over the years. He now gets a less enticing matchup against Mike Foltynewicz, who's off to a hot start with a 2.31 SIERA and 34.1% strikeout rate over his first two outings.
Let's not forget that Foltynewicz has disappointed us plenty of times before, and there are reasons to wonder whether he can keep this up. Despite the high strikeout rate, he has a surprisingly low 8.6% swinging-strike rate, which isn't even as high as his career mark (9.5%), and he's also allowed a surprisingly high 37.5% hard-hit rate. Even if this isn't a new and improved pitcher, we can also consider that historically he's allowed a whopping .371 wOBA to left-handed hitters.
Many will flock to Mike Trout and Nolan Arenado -- and with good reason -- but Harper could just as well be the one who comes through tonight. Don't let the matchup scare you off. Pivoting to Harper as a contrarian play could certainly pay off here.
