Start: April 17th vs. Cleveland Indians, April 22nd at Tampa Bay Rays
ESPN percentage owned: 47.8%
If you're wondering why Jake Odorizzi and his sharp 2.20 ERA have been left to wallow on over half of ESPN waiver wires, look no further than his rather dreary 14.7% walk rate. Indeed, the 28-year-old Minnesota Twins' righty hasn't commanded any of the five pitches in his arsenal particularly well, but his ability to suppress power has paid dividends, as he's surrendered just one home run and a mere 24.4% hard-contact rate over 16.1 frames.
Odorizzi might see his power numbers regress against an Indians squad that's chomping at the bit after a slow start. Shallow leaguers in daily change formats should probably sit Odorizzi for that first of two starts, looking forward to his scheduled weekend turn against the soft-swinging Rays, a matchup in which the junk-balling righty should be a must-play streamer.
