The Toronto Blue Jays are an offense you're going to want to take a close look at on Monday as they boast the highest implied total (5.22) on the main slate in a matchup with Eric Skoglund and the Kansas City Royals.
Skoglund has played in only nine career MLB games (22 2/3 innings), and what he has done has not been pretty. His ERA sits at 9.53, and his 5.96 SIERA isn't any less egregious. His 12.7% strikeout rate barely eclipses his 11.9% walk rate, and he's allowing a 36.0% hard-hit rate to go with a 43.5% fly-ball rate.
Drawing on a bigger sample of 19 starts, his 2017 Triple-A numbers don't inspire much more confidence as he posted a weak 4.46 xFIP.
The switch-hitting Justin Smoak is coming off a 2018 season that saw him beat up on southpaws to the tune of a .412 wOBA and .234 isolated slugging (ISO) on a 36.5% hard-hit and 43.0% fly-ball rate. He has been kept quiet over his last three games, but he's still off to a strong start to 2018 (7 extra-base hits, 11 runs and 10 RBIs through 14 games), and he has no business being this cheap in such a great matchup.
