Carlos Correa has to deal with James Paxton on Monday. Paxton's ERA is well over 5.00, but his peripherals indicate it is just some bad luck in a small sample of starts, as his SIERA is actually lower than it was in his breakthrough season last year.

Despite being a southpaw, Paxton has actually been tougher on right-handed batters over the course of his career. He has held righties to a .279 wOBA over the course of his career, striking them out 23.9% of the time.

Correa has also had some struggles with plate discipline to start the season. His walk and strikeout rates are both the worse they have been in any of his seasons in the major leagues thus far. The culprit has been Correa's inability to lay off bad pitches -- he has swung at 33 1% of pitches outside the strike zone in 2018, which would be the highest mark of his career.

A batter struggling with plate discipline against a pitcher who is brutally tough on right-handed hitters? That's not a good combination for Correa.
