3 Daily Fantasy Baseball Players to Avoid on 4/16/18
Robinson Cano has been incredible to start the season, but some expected regression combined with a matchup against Dallas Keuchel makes Cano a fade in MLB DFS.

Robinson Cano has been incredible to start the season, posting a bonkers 200 wRC+ thus far.

However, his performance has been fueled at least in part by a sky-high .500 batting average on balls in play (BABIP), and while his batted-ball profile has been impressive, his BABIP is sure to decline and settle closer towards his .320 career mark.

In addition to impending regression, Cano also has to deal with Houston Astros lefty Dallas Keuchel. With all the attention on starters Justin Verlander and Gerrit Cole for the Astros, Keuchel has somewhat flown under the radar, but he is still doing his thing. He's struggled a bit with walks to open the season, but his strikeout rate is right in line with his career norm, and he is still managing contact well, actually forcing opposing batters to post a higher soft-hit rate than hard-hit rate so far in 2018.

Platoon splits are a concern for Cano in this matchup. Cano has just a 107 wRC+, 27.9% fly-ball rate, and 28.1% hard-hit rate in his career against southpaws. Meanwhile, Keuchel surrenders just a .263 wOBA, 20.0% fly-ball rate, and 21.6% hard-hit rate against left-handed batters over his career while striking them out 24.3% of the time.
