Miami Marlins righty Trevor Richards will be making his fifth Major League start tonight, and his numbers so far don't inspire much confidence.
He has allowed five runs in two of his four starts, and his skill-interactive ERA (SIERA) sits at an ugly 5.46. To make matters worse, Richards' 12.4% walk rate is also not far behind his 15.7% strikeout rate. He looked promising at the Minor League level in 2017, but that was in High-A and Double-A action (he has not played in a Triple-A game in his career), and while he may have potential, he's going to continue representing a good fantasy matchup until he starts to show some serious improvement.
Joc Pederson doesn't offer anything special from the dish, but since the beginning of the 2017 season he has tagged right-handed pitchers for a .331 wOBA and .205 ISO on a 33.2% hard-hit rate. Priced only $200 above the minimum in a matchup this good, numbers like that are more than enough to create solid value.
