The Kansas City Royals' 4.69 implied total is the main slate's highest as they draw a dreamy matchup with Chicago White Sox right-hander Lucas Giolito. Giolito's start to the 2018 season has been almost indescribably awful. Sure, a 9.00 ERA is not sustainable, and that mark will undoubtedly fall in the long-term. But he has paired it with an ugly 7.71 skill-interactive ERA (SIERA), while his 19.2% walk rate is way above his 9.1% strikeout rate.
It's not only this season that has been bad, either, as his career SIERA now sits at 5.63 through 17 MLB games.
Lucas Duda hasn't had a good start to the season, but he has been productive in his 50 plate appearances against right-handed pitching, notching a .375 wOBA on a 38.9% hard-hit rate.
Expanding our sample to include the 2017 season, he has turned a 42.6% hard-hit, 13.3% soft-hit and 48.3% fly-ball rate into a .362 wOBA and .281 isolated slugging (ISO) against right-handers, and he should have little trouble taking advantage of this matchup.
