3 Daily Fantasy Baseball Players to Avoid on 5/1/18
Ronald Acuna has flashed incredible tools since getting called up, but he has a brutal matchup with righty-killer Noah Syndergaard. Which other players are in a bad spot?

Buster Posey, C, San Francisco Giants

FanDuel Price: $2,800

Buster Posey's price is extremely low, so he may carry decent ownership, especially in tournaments as people try to be contrarian by using a catcher in the catcher/first base slot. However, his matchup against Tyson Ross makes Posey a player to avoid rather than a guy to target.

Throughout his career, Posey has absolutely raked against southpaws, posting a 159 wRC+, 10.3% strikeout rate, 37.2% fly-ball rate, and 37.9% hard-hit rate in the split. But these marks are all significantly worse against right-handed pitchers as Posey has managed just a 125 wRC+, 12.7% strikeout rate, 29.9% fly-ball rate, and 31.6% hard-hit rate against them.

Not only is Posey facing a righty, it's a right-hander who has been lethal versus right-handed sticks. In his career, Ross has held right-handed hitters to a .289 wOBA with 24.2% strikeout rate, and he's limited them to a 26.2% hard-hit rate.

With a 3.60 SIERA on the season, Ross has demonstrated he is back to his early-career form after injuries looked like they were going to derail his hopes of becoming an effective pitcher again. We should steer clear of Posey, even at an affordable price tag.
