Whenever you can get Bryce Harper at low ownership, you have to consider him, right?
Harper doesn't get the best matchup against Nick Pivetta, who owns 3.40 SIERA, 25.4% strikeout rate, and 5.2% walk rate this season. In a limited sample size, he hasn't necessarily shown a major weakness against lefties, either, allowing a .311 wOBA over 81 2/3 career innings.
So why is Harper listed here? Well, aside from his being supremely talented, it's tonight's weather at Nationals Park that's intriguing. It's one of the hottest games on the board, and we could have double-digit mile-per-hour winds blowing out. That sounds like some nice dinger-hitting weather, and despite the matchup, the Washington Nationals have a solid 4.47 implied team total. Not that you need any convincing that Harper can mash, but dating back to the start of 2017, he owns a ridiculous .446 wOBA and .346 isolated power (ISO) against right-handed pitching.
We have such pristine hitting spots for teams like the New York Yankees and Houston Astros, among others, that Harper probably won't get many looks. He's been killing it out of the leadoff spot, and it could very well continue tonight.
