The Boston Red Sox have one of the tougher matchups on the board against the New York Yankees' Masahiro Tanaka, and it shows in their ho-hum 3.96 implied team total. But that shouldn't prevent us from giving Mookie Betts a gander in tournaments.
Betts owns a ridiculous .513 wOBA and .465 isolated power (ISO) -- topping the league in both categories -- along with a 50.0% hard-hit rate and 51.0% fly-ball rate. And naturally, he's done all this while maintaining his stellar plate discipline, showing a 10.5% rate in both strikeouts and walks. For all intents and purposes, Betts has been the best hitter in all of baseball to this point.
Tanaka comes in as a tough customer, but he's always struggled with the long-ball, allowing a 15.9% home-run-to-fly-ball rate over his career. Particularly at hitter-friendly Yankee Stadium, don't rule out Betts taking him deep. He's already shown ridiculous upside this year with two different three-dinger games.
