3 Daily Fantasy Baseball Players to Avoid on 5/18/18
Jake Arrieta's debut season with the Phillies has gone well so far, but he's in a tough spot on Friday's MLB DFS slate.

Edwin Encarnacion, 1B, Cleveland Indians

FanDuel Price: $3,700

Edwin Encarnacion may be showing the early signs of a late-career decline. His strikeout rate has spiked to 27.8%, and his walk rate (7.4%) is less than half of what it was in 2017 (15.5%). His batted-ball profile also hasn't changed to compensate for the poor plate discipline. He has a higher soft hit rate (17.8%) than he did a year ago (15.5%).

Encarnacion also has an absolutely brutal matchup against the Houston Astros' Charlie Morton. The right-handed Morton has been phenomenal this year with a 32.3% strikeout rate, 24.8% fly-ball rate, and 25.5% hard-hit rate. He's also been great at limiting the damage of right-handed bats throughout his career, holding them to a .301 wOBA, 22.7% fly-ball rate and 23.3% hard-hit rate.

With worsening plate discipline metrics and up against it against Morton, Encarnacion could be worth fading on a 15-game slate tonight.
