Scooter Gennett once hit four home runs in a game. This is a thing that actually happened.
Here's another thing that actually happened. Scooter Gennett is one of the best hitters in the National League.
In 46 games (185 plate appearances), he's batting .318/.355/.503 with 7 dingers, 27 RBIs and 21 runs scored. His .370 wOBA is 20th in the NL and just one-hundredth of a point behind Bryce Harper's .371, and he's been especially hot over the last 14 days, hitting .408/.420/.776 with 5 bombs during that stretch.
Even though Gennett's walk rate is even lower (4.9%) than his already-low career rate (5.2%), he did hit 27 homers last year and knocked in 97, so there is a body of work to go on here. And despite not pulling the ball as much as he did last year, his 40.6% hard-hit rate is higher than last year's 34.4% clip.
Gennett is a supremely underrated second base option in fantasy, providing power at a position that doesn't have a ton of it.
