The Arizona Diamondbacks have lost 11 of their last 12 games and are now getting some heat from the Los Angeles Dodgers. They will try and right the ship tonight against the Milwaukee Brewers and Jhoulys Chacin, who could make it a long night for right-handed batters.
In his lone season with the San Diego Padres, Chacin posted a solid campaign over 180 1/3 innings with a 3.89 ERA and 4.63 skill-interactive ERA (SIERA). Since the start of that 2017 campaign, the pitcher has been brilliant against right-handed bats, limiting them to a .264 weighted on-base average (wOBA), 28.3% hard-hit rate, and 23.6% strikeout rate.
While Nick Ahmed has done some major damage against lefties, he hasn't provided the same level of righty-on-righty production. Over his last 235 plate appearances dating back to the start of last season, Ahmed has posted only a .183 batting average and .236 wOBA while striking out 24.3% of the time against righties.
It's a good night to look elsewhere at shortstop.
