Domingo Santana has seen his production take a big step back in 2018, but his 40.2% hard-hit and 13.4% soft-hit rates are right in line with his marks from 2017 (39.7% hard-hit rate and 11.7% soft-hit rate), when he notched a .372 wOBA and .227 isolated slugging (ISO) over 607 plate appearances.
His reduced price-tag makes sense, and he doesn't offer any sort of a floor this year, but making contact like that means he does have some interesting upside on a nightly basis.
That is particularly true tonight against Arizona's Matt Koch. Koch has pitched in 15 games over his first two Major League seasons, struggling to the tune of a 4.92 skill-interactive ERA (SIERA) while getting crushed for a 40.3% hard-hit rate.
